Marc Beer’s Successful Career

Marc Beer cofounded the startup Renovia Inc with Ramon Iglesias and Yolanda Lorie in 2016. He closed a $32 million Series B round with $10 million in venture capital. The medtech company will develop products for pelvic floor disorders such as urinary incontinence. Its product Leva was approved by the FDA in April. The Logwood Fund is an investing firm focused on healthcare. It donated funds for the testing and development of therapeutic and diagnostic products like the Leva device. Marc Beer said Renovia was thrilled to gain the firm’s support. Renovia’s form factors and sensor technologies in combination with a digital health platform will provide customers with data on new treatment options and lower the long-term costs.

Marc Beer worked with Aegerion for five years before leaving in 2015. It is a biopharmaceutical company that develops and commercializes therapies for patients with rare debilitating diseases. In 2010, Marc took the company public with its first product JUXTAPID. It gained FDA approval in 2012 for homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. It received marketing approval in 36 countries. MYALEPT, its next product, was approved for generalized lipodystrophy. Millendo Therapeutics is merging with the Waltham biotech.

He was also OvaScience’s strategic consultant. He was the biotechnology company ViaCell’s Founding CEO in 2000. It specialized in the collection, development, and preservation of umbilical cord blood stem cells. Marc took the company public in 2005, while increasing the workforce to over 300 employees. PerkinElmer acquired it in 2007. Marc previously worked for Genzyme as Vice President of Global Marketing. He held various marketing and sales roles at Abbott Laboratories in the diagnostic and pharmaceutical divisions.

Marc Beer has over 25 years of experience developing and commercializing biotechnology, diagnostics, devices, and pharmaceuticals. He served as a board member for Erytech Pharma, Biotechnology Industry Organization, and the Mass Life Science Board of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He was Good Start Genetics, Inc.’s board of directors chairman and compensation committee chairman. He is currently Minerva Neurosciences Inc.’s Founding chairman, compensation committee chairman, and an adult committee member. He attended Miami University to earn his BS.¬†Learn more :¬†
