Media Industry and Covid-19- Randy Douthit

Randy DouthitThe Covid-19 pandemic affected almost all industries, including the media sector. For media organization, including the television, the impact was negative e as they had to end the filming of most of their programs. For those that continued, they had to observe strict measures that prevented the spread of the disease. Randy Douthit is an executive producer who has won various awards, including Emmy Awards for Judge Judy; he was affected by the pandemic and had to adjust during the period.

Randy Douthit says that the pandemic came with added cost. The team had to be tested, safety measures to be observed, and the shooting took longer than usual, which added to the production cost. Apart from the cost of production, the production team also felt the changes that were not easy to adopt. The testing, vaccination, and wearing the mask were new attitudes. Everyone needed to be careful and aware of what was happening. Nevertheless, the team in the media industry has embraced the changes despite the costs after experiencing the benefits it brings. Randy mentioned that some individuals were not comfortable getting tested, but after seeing some worse situations, they got ready for the test.

Testing, vaccinating, and wearing masks were not the only measures. People were required to keep social distance; the studio rooms full of extras were left empty to allow space. Not only did those working in the office switch to remote working, but Randy Douthit mentioned Judge Judy also attended to cases remotely. The pandemic forced non-televised court proceedings to be moved to video conferencing. Sheindlin would make verdicts from East Coast, sitting opposite the reproduction of Judge Judy’s background seen by the onlookers. Sheindlin saw evidence through a monitor before making final judgment. The covid-19 pandemic did not stop the continuation of the film. Producers worked hard to air the pandemic’s 25th and final episode. The production of the film during the pandemic called for humility and commitment. The production team led by Randy Douthit produced 120 episodes.

Randy DouthitRandy says he worked with someone who was ready to do anything to see that the show did not stop airing despite the pandemic.
