Alliance Defending Freedom Works to Defend Liberty

The Alliance Defending Freedom has recently won a great deal of national attention due to its steadfast protection of religious liberty. This is an area where all too few of its peers in the legal realm have dared to make their views known. For this reason, the ADF has had to go it alone on many occasions where help from others would have been ideal.

This fact alone makes it all the more impressive that the Alliance Defending Freedom has managed to find itself victorious more than once. The ADF recently won a case where a soldier’s breathing and feeding tubes were restored. This was after his estranged former wife attempted to have them cut off. The soldier was able to make a full recovery.

If it had not been for the actions of the ADF, this type of victory would not have been possible. But this is not the only type of endeavor that the group has been involved in. It has also acted to protect the liberties of a wide range of religious faiths. These include Shia Muslims, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, Jews, and even agnostics. In 1998, ADF launched the Center for Faith and Cultural Engagement (CFCE). CFCE works with faith-based organizations, churches, and ministries to defend religious liberty while retaining their integrity and independence as ministries.

The reason given by the leaders of the Alliance Defending Freedom for its wide range of interests is a simple one. Religious liberty is a right that should be enjoyed by everyone. It is guaranteed under the principles exemplified by the original founders of the U.S. Constitution. The ADF is thus acting under a sacred duty to preserve it.
