Dr. Andrew Jacono has built his career around the belief that expertise developed through elective cosmetic surgery carries an obligation to serve those who cannot access or afford specialized reconstructive care elsewhere. The technical skills required to refine a rhinoplasty for a paying client overlap considerably with those needed to reconstruct a face damaged by abuse or a birth condition.

Two Populations, One Set of Hands

Domestically, that commitment has translated into pro bono work for more than 100 survivors of domestic violence through the FACE TO FACE project, where he serves as senior advisor. Internationally, it has meant more than 750 surgeries for children treated through missions with Healing the Children, the HUGS Foundation, and THAI Children, typically conducted twice each year in countries including Colombia, Ecuador, Thailand, and Vietnam. Patients on either side of that divide receive the same level of surgical attention, even though the circumstances that bring them into an operating room could hardly differ more.

A Model That Resists Separation

Rather than treating his cosmetic practice and humanitarian work as separate pursuits, Dr. Andrew Jacono has described them as reinforcing one another. The same surgical hands that perform procedures for well-known clients also work on children with cleft lip and palate in remote clinics with limited equipment. That convergence, elite technical ability applied equally across dramatically different patient populations, has become a defining feature of how his broader career is understood within the field of facial plastic surgery today.
