Robert Kraft is the Chairman and CEO of the Kraft Group. The company is a production company with several subsidiaries involving paper, packaging, sports and entertainment, real estate development, and a private equity portfolio. The Kraft Group has grown from a few small manufacturing units to a diversified corporation. Kraft’s best-known holdings are the Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution, Gillette Stadium, and the National Football League’s New England Patriots. Robert Kraft attended Columbia University, where he graduated with honors in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. In 1965, he got his Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He started with the Rand-Whitney group and worked for Pepsi-Cola for three years. He was then asked to work for the International Paper Company in their paper unit until 1980.
In 1972, he initiated International Forest Products, becoming a trader of physical paper things. Kraft left International Paper in 1980 and went to develop International Forest Products. In 1988, he was asked to work for Gillette Corporation as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, and Kraft helped Gillette grow from $ 850 million to over $ 12 billion in sales. He helped with the restructuring of Gillette’s operations across the globe.
- Philanthropy
Kraft is a major donor to the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation and the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He also supports organizations like The Boys and Girls Club of Boston, the Boston Children’s Hospital, The Jimmy Fund, Elms College, and Northeastern University. Harvard Business School has recently established a sports management corner in honor of his contribution to the school. The school is also planning to introduce sports personalities in its curriculum. Kraft also works towards securing funds and generating more income for Massachusetts General Hospital.
