Alliance Defending Freedom is a legal organization bolstered by Christians and committed to advocating for religious liberty and the sanctity of life, marriage, and family. The ADF website offers free resources for attorneys, alerts on pending legislation, law reviews, and live video feed from attorneys speaking in those law review classes that can be accessed anywhere in the world.

The website also has the opportunity to “Pray for Our Nation” and provides downloadable resources such as pamphlets on how to be good citizens. The Alliance Defending Freedom website also offers a blog where anyone can review their most recent articles, report on the latest lawsuit, or read the testimonies of those affected by their work.

ADF’s model is to educate and provide free legal representation to those who cannot afford it when facing legal challenges involving religious liberty on many levels, including civil rights, family issues, freedom of speech, and church-state separation.

The foundation was founded in 1994 by a conservative lawyer; its headquarters are in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Alliance Defending Freedom is a non-profit organization whose goal is to protect religious liberty for all Americans, and its mission is “to defend the God-given freedoms” enshrined in the U.S. Constitution from judicial usurpation, particularly the “First Amendment Right To Religious Liberty”.

ADF assists people who are denied their legal rights by “lawmakers or courts” even when no law was violated (where the law allows discrimination), rules that do not comport with religious belief (e.g., laws against hate crimes or same-sex marriage), or where someone is being treated unequally based on their sexual orientation (e.g., transgender individuals being banned from using the bathroom of their choice).

Alliance Defending Freedom advocates for a broad range of issues, from the creationism vs. evolution issue in public schools to banning books in libraries. Although ADF is against abortion, it does not attempt overturning Roe v Wade. Instead, it tries to regulate abortion by encouraging legislation to control what can and cannot be done during pregnancy when an abortion has been decided upon.
